about

This album has been just over a year in the making. I started it after we finished playing the festivals. It contains 14 studio songs plus 1 song recorded 'live' in the studio and another recorded at the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival in Bromsgrove in 2019 which we have then added overdubs to in the studio. The album I began recording in the Autumn of 2019 changed because the world changed and 4 new songs which I wrote in 2020 were added. These songs were 'Momus Boulevard', 'Anorak', 'In my dreams' and the final song to be recorded in the 'Lockdown', 'Muddy the Waters'. Several songs on the album are about people and the title, 'Hoi Polloi' is a term for the common people like you and I who sometimes have it used to describe us in a derogatory way.

Reviews;
'It’s really full to the brim with top tunes like his latest single ‘Momus Boulevard’, the amazing ‘Melanie Moon’ and “A Song for Stephanie’.
If you have never had a close encounter with the Croks, then this CD is a perfect way of dipping your toe in the water, and don’t worry they won’t bite'.
Pete Chambers (Music Matters, Coventry Observer)

'Everyone deserves a bit of sunshine right now and this album has been created in order to add a bit of light to this most dark of years'.
Pete Clemons (Coventry Music Articles)

'In the continuing tradition of any Croks release this album is piled high with musical quirks and is choc full of joy'.
Pete Clemons (2020 music review)

'The whole album is a real work of art.
This thing needs to be heard in the big wide world'.
Tony Seaton (CMM & Engineer / Producer)
